CASE REPORT Successful Cochlear Implantation in a Child Deafened by Mumps

چکیده

109 Introduction Mumps is a common childhood infection caused by the mumps virus. The hallmark of the infection is swelling of the parotid gland. Aseptic meningitis and encephalitis are common complications of mumps together with orchitis and oophoritis. Other complications include deafness and pancreatitis . Although deafness is a rare complication of mumps, it is still one of the most common causes of acquired sensori-neural hearing loss . Herein, we present a 3.5year-old girl with a bilateral total hearing loss due to asymptomatic mumps infection who was implanted successfully. Case Report
